politics

Our country is of the people, by the people, for the people,

so we must agape the people, pray for the people, and teach the people.

Abortion is a spiritual issue before it is a political issue.

Jesus did not teach the Roman politicians—He taught the people who believed in God.

The Apostle Paul did not try to change Roman policy—He tried to change Roman politicians.

My prayer is that you find plenty of Biblical resources in this website to teach and disciple your flock without feeling a need to talk politics or political parties.

Pro-Life President?

If we were to follow news reports, we'd think that all Republicans are pro-life and all Democrats are pro-choice. Until June 2018, the Republicans for Choice were active but gave up and became Democrats. But the Democrats for Life remain very vocal.

We think that having a Republican President is a win for the pro-life movement, but consider this: The CDC’s statistics show that the USA had—

  • more abortions per year 2004-2008 (avg of 715,000/year; Republican President)

than 2009-2013 (avg of 632,000/year; Democratic President), and

  • the abortion rate went up 2004-2008 (from 714,000 to 718,000/year; Republican President)

but consistently went down 2009-2013 (686,000 to 570,000/year; Democratic President).

Are there problems quoting those statistics? Yes! But many Democrats quote those statistics or ones from other Presidential terms as proof that having a pro-life President does not reduce the abortion rate in the United States.

NOTE: When we get the abortion stats for President Trump's 2017-2021 term, the numbers will be skewed because of the pandemic.

Reversing Roe Did Not End Abortion

Even in pro-life states, abortion continues illegally. Abortion pills are used for about 50% of American abortions. Websites tell women how to get pills even if their state restricts them. "Pill Coyotes" deliver pills across state lines.

In the African country of Uganda, abortion is unlawful yet women still abort their babies, particularly poor women.

of the people, by the people, for the people

As President Lincoln said in his Gettysburg Address, we are a government of the people, by the people, for the people. As such, if we want our government to change, then we need the people to change

As pro-life Christians, let's agape the people, pray for the people, teach the people.

My hope is that you find plenty of Bible content in this website to teach without a need to talk politics.

Worship to End Abortion: Your Prayer Guide

Every fall leading up to elections and every spring during Lent, I lead people through my prayer guide titled Worship to End Abortion. The guide is based on the Biblical principles of worship (2 Chronicles 20:1-30, Romans 12:1-2, 1 Corinthians 6:19) and guides its audience to pray worshipfully for the end of abortion by praying for themselves, praying for their church community, and praying for the people in their country.

I am rewriting Worship to End Abortion for a post-Roe world. Contact me if you'd like more information.
